Blackpool up to 10th in the league

September 20th, 2008

After a huge win away at Birmingham with a final of Birmingham 0 - 1 Blackpool.

The BBC had this to say

Gary Taylor-Fletcher grabbed the only goal as Blackpool secured a shock victory at high-flying Birmingham.

Taylor-Fletcher drilled the winner past Maik Taylor after being teed up by Keith Southern on 47 minutes.

Blackpool’s victory margin could have been greater against an out-of-sorts Blues but Taylor made super saves to deny David Vaughan and Ben Burgess.

The home side barely threatened with Cameron Jerome and Kevin Phillips missing half-chances.

Keigan Parker has agreed to join Huddersfield Town in League One on a two year deal after his contract with the Seasiders is expired subject to passing a medical of course.

Cardiff 3:1 Blackpool

April 13th, 2008

The Seasiders managed to get one goal from the playoff hopefuls Cardiff at Ninian Park. It wasn’t until the 73rd minute before Andrew Morrell got the only goal for Blackpool. Blackpool is not 8 straight games without a win and this is not good news for the relegation battle that we need to stay away from. I really don’t want to see Blackpool go back down as I think they they will have a good chance next season at being in the top of the league. The boss Simon Grayson reacted to his side’s first-half display by making two substitutions at the interval, with Ben Burgess and Michael Flynn replaced by Paul Dickov and David Fox. But the visitors were caught cold four minutes into the second half when Aaron Ramsey produced a moment of quality to set up Sinclair, who slotted the ball past Paul Rachubka from 12 yards out.

Blackpool in promotion play-off position?

April 11th, 2008

It is really quite amazing this season that almost all the way down to Blackpool in 17th position that these clubs are almost all within a promotion qualifying spot. These points are so tight in the top half of the table. Really down to Blackpool there is only 20 points separating them from the top spot, and only 10 points separating them from a promotion play-off spot. I’m not sure I would want Blackpool to go up to the top flight quite yet anyways but I would like our club to get the money that does come along with being promoted!

Blackpool 5:3 Charlton

February 23rd, 2008

Wow, Blackpool really came out to play today.  This is a big result for the Seasiders against a strong side Charlton.

Blackpool v Charlton half time update

February 23rd, 2008

Blackpool came out strong early with two goals by McPhee (16′) and Gorkss (26′).  But then Charlton came back with back-to-back goals with both coming from Ambrose (29′ and 30′).

Blackpool duo Michael Jackson and Stephen Crainey are set to be ruled out for the visit of promotion-chasing Charlton.

Centre-half Jackson sustained a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Ipswich, while former Leeds left-back Stephen Crainey is nursing a shin injury.

Both players look certain to miss out against the Addicks but boss Simon Grayson looks set to be boosted elsewhere.

Latvia defender Kaspars Gorkss is primed to make his comeback after a two-game suspension, and his return will offset Jackson’s expected absence.

Blackpool host Wolverhampton

February 12th, 2008

Blackpool will host the wolves at Bloomfield Road tonight as Blackpool try to come up with another win.  Paul Dickov has been showing some good form since coming to the Seasiders on loan lets see if he can continue his excellent play.

Hull 2:2 Blackpool

February 9th, 2008

Well Paul Dickov is certainly making his new participation at the Blackpool club known with his double goals against Hull today.  Dickov scored the only two goals for the Seasiders today to maintain a draw with Hull.  One goal in each half of the match, Blackpool looked to be winning this game but then two late goals by Hull tied the match.  Blackpool unfortunately dropped to 16th place after QPR’s win over Southhampton.

Blackpool 2:1 Leicester

February 3rd, 2008

Blackpool take another victory at Bloomfield Road yesterday with a 2:1 win over Leicester.  Including a 90th minute winning debut goal from Paul Dickov on his debute appearance when he came in as a substitute in the 2nd half.  Blackpool after 30 games played are in 15th position even in points with Sheffield United and Barnsley but lead both clubs on goal difference.

Blackpool leading Leicester going into the first half

February 2nd, 2008

Thanks to a brillant goal by Taylor-Fletcher at only 2 minutes into the match puts Blackpool FC into the lead which is how the score line stayed going into the half time break.  Leicester made two changes coming into the second half of this match.
